aBC Playground mural
Extending 35 feet in length and 24 feet wide, this playground alphabet installation was created as a multipurpose learning tool that can be used for letter recognition, spelling, and reading comprehension games. Bringing students out of the classroom into a fun environment, this installation allows students to jump on the letters to identify their ABC’s or to spell out words. Within the open squares, sidewalk chalk can be used to draw pictures of words that begin with the letters. Chalk can also be used to practice rewriting letter-forms in other formats like uppercase or cursive. Such games offer opportunities for kinesthetic, visual, and auditory learners alike.
